From Argentina to NYC: Romina Peixoto’s Dessert Journey

by | Aug 4, 2026

Every dessert at Sweet Graffiti has a story, and they all start with Chef Romina Peixoto learning a love for pastry early in her grandmother’s kitchen in Buenos Aires, Argentina. That journey took her all the way to New York City, where Sweet Graffiti brings together her Argentine roots with globally inspired flavors and impeccable technique.

From Argentina to the Global Culinary Stage

Chef Romina Peixoto was born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where her love for pastry started early in her abuela’s kitchen. Romina’s abuela taught her that desserts are so much more than just sweet and delicious. They have the power to create meaningful memories and even tell real, important stories.

Romina’s passion inspired her to pursue pastry professionally, bringing her all the way to New York City, where she has worked with some of the most talented chefs in the industry. Building a successful career as a Latina pastry chef in NYC has taken resilience and a willingness to continuously learn and evolve as a chef.

Becoming a World-Class Pastry Chef

Before Chef Peixoto opened Sweet Graffiti, she trained and worked in some of New York City’s top restaurants. Those experiences imbued her with a profound respect for the precision of classical technique, and renewed her dedication to the pursuit of excellence in her craft.

But Sweet Graffiti is where Romina found her unique identity as a pastry chef and entrepreneur. As Romina herself describes it: “Creating Sweet Graffiti has allowed me to share my own voice and celebrate my heritage through desserts.”

How Global Flavors Shape Sweet Graffiti’s Offerings

The desserts that Romina Peixoto creates at Sweet Graffiti are a reflection of her journey up to this point. She combines the techniques she learned during her years working in fine dining with the flavors of her Argentine upbringing and the exciting energy of NYC.

Her goal, as she describes it: “to create desserts that are both beautiful and meaningful.” Every delicious confection at Sweet Graffiti tells a story. Romina hopes that her work “inspires other pastry chefs to embrace their own heritage, stay curious, and never be afraid to create something authentic.”
